Challenge #13

Over at Bah! Humbug!, the challenge was to make a card that generates a smile. This challenge was quite hard for me, since I don't have any Christmas sentiments or stamps that are particularly funny. So, I ended up using a gem peel-off from Michaels that I thought was cute - it does make me smile. I used a green card base and added some patterned paper, ric-rack, and a peel-off sentiment. Nesties were used for the rectangles under the Scottie. I hope this makes you smile, also. Enjoy, and thanks for taking a look!

I would also like to enter this into the Less is More - use red, and if possible, CHNC - Christmas foliage or flowers challenges. (There is a very small amount of greenery on the sentiment sticker - looks like leaves to me - don't know if this qualifies, though).

Card #2: Revision of Aperture Card

Here's an updated look at the aperture card. I had mentioned I didn't like the shiny look of the sentiment sticker and Max kindly offered the suggestion of adding red glitter glue around the border so as not to risk ruining the card by trying to remove it. I did, and I like it so much more this way. I wouldn't want it matted with red though, because it's a clear sticker so you wouldn't be able to read it easily. Thanks, Max, for a great suggestion!

  2. Hi Ruth
Your card with green 'blank' space is perfectly acceptable Id say, super little image, striking festive colours
The other card with the red border, I do agree the red border enhances it somewhat but for me stickles isn't a crisp medium unfortunately doesn't giv a crisp enough edge, think a red matt of paper or card would have been better, personally! No offence
Thanks for entering, great to see you

  3. Two cute cards Ruth, I think that the second one is more in line our Touch of Red, clean and simple challenge and I love the window effect you have created. The card you used for the window frame may have been a good mat for the sentiment too, linking the two together!
Thanks so much for your entry and we hope you'll be able to visit some fellow entrants and leave some comments. See you next time!

  6. Hi Ruth,
Once again I'm dragging my heels getting around everyone, but better late than never lol! Your wee Scottie dog is a definite smile raiser and I love the wee touch of tartan.
BTW I really like the upgrade to your previous challenge card with the stickles around the sentiment and whilst Mandi makes a valid point that the use of a red matting would look crisper, you'd've had to prise off the sentiment to do that and run the risk of ruining the card completely, which would've been such a shame.
