UmWow, Authentique, and Unity

This is a card I made for my husband's recent birthday.  I used the Unity Frazzled stamp and the Unity Encircled Happy Birthday stamp. Authentique Journey 6x6 papers were used on the craft card base.  UmWow star confetti was used in the corners and on the sentiment circle.  Copics were used to color the stamped image.  I also added some twine that I sprayed with matte sealer and wound around a pen, then carefully removed it from the pen and set it aside to dry.  (I wanted the twine to resemble the curls of the hair)  The twine is attached under the Happy Birthday sentiment circle.
This was a quick and simple card, but I like the way it turned out (so did my husband -  he said I look like the girl in the stamp, but I really don't - at least not completely!)

UmWow October sketch and SWAT fussy cutting Drill #17

This is a card I made using the October sketch at UmWow Studio.  I wanted to practice my coloring and splattering techniques, and use some of my newest purchases from Um Wow.  (I used chevron confetti for the "branch"and chevron mask at the top right and lower edge of the card).  I love using DeeDee's sketches for inspiration!  I also am enjoying fussy cutting, and am entering this for Drill #17 over at SWAT.

Birthday card

This is one of my favorite cards!  I used a design from one of my daughter's card magazines for inspiration.  I surprised her on her birthday with this one, and I believe it is one of her favorites, as well.
The pattern was a download, and the supplies are from her stash.  (Only fitting, right?  Since it is for her)

UmWowStudio August sketch challenge

The following card is a birthday card for my youngest son.  His favorite color is bright green, so the card base and cupcake "paper" are green.  I also wanted to follow the UmWowStudio August sketch, so the majority of the card is black with light accents.  Here's the sketch, and below is my card.   I just love the UmWow chippies!  I've used the star confetti (painted white) and regular star chippies painted with black gesso then dipped in black glitter.  The black background is stamped and embossed with clear embossing powder using a collection of sentiment stamps.  I then stamped on top of that with flourish stamps and embossed them with green distress embossing powder and clear embossing powder.  (I'm not the greatest at splattering with paint/ink, so I used flourishes instead.) The cupcake embellishment is from a card stock kit - I just painted it with glossy accents.
Thanks for taking a look!

UmWow Studio's July sketch challenge

This card is for the July UmWow Studio sketch challenge.  If you haven't visited their site, go on over.  There are so many great projects to look at and get inspiration from!
For this card, I used Authentique Blissful papers on cream and kraft cardstock.  The stamps were from Unity's All Hail the QUEEN Bee SOTW.  The crown embellishment is from Every Day Moments by Teresa Collins, and the chipboard is from UmWowStudio. (I love their chippies!)  Washi tape is MME (yellow) and Teresa Collins' Now & Then (bees).  I attempted to get a splatter effect using glimmer mist (looks a little gloppy to me).  The hex/bee was stamped using a mixture of ink and white gesso, but you can't really see any texture in this pic.  (The texture is very subtle.)  Other odds and ends used were natural twine and a nestie for the sentiment, which was embossed using clear embossing powder.
Thanks for stopping by, and be sure to check out UmWowStudio.

UmWow June sketch, second entry

This is the second card I made for UmWow's June challenge.  I was inspired by the splatters and thought they would resemble fireworks behind the flags.
For this card,  the background stars were applied using a Heidi Swapp mask and gesso.  I also added gesso to the UmWow chipboard stars then painted them with stickles for a little sparkle.  White acrylic paint was splattered onto the card front, then TH visual artistry collection stars were stamped using TH weathered wood distress ink.  The flags and stripe ribbon were from a MM July 4 embellishment pack.  The card front was then added to red background cardstock that had a diagonal stripe border cut out using the silhouette.  All was placed on a white card base.

I have enjoyed learning about gesso and playing a little with it on projects and hope you also enjoyed taking a look at my projects.

UmWow Studios June sketch challenge

This first card was my first attempt at using gesso outside of a class setting.  I was inspired by taking one of DeeDee's online classes recently.  It was a wonderful experience, and I wanted to use some of the techniques we used in her class.
I used the gesso to stamp the hex background, as well as to add dimension to the UmWow chipboard clouds.  After the gesso dried, I spritzed the hex stamped paper and clouds with sandy beach glimmer mist.  The sunflower was fussy cut from a stamped image (stampabilities rubber stamp) colored with copics.  All papers were scraps and neutral twine was added.  The sketch used was from UmWow's June challenge.
