Less is More - sketch challenge

This card is for the Less is More sketch challenge. I chose a black and silver color scheme because it is for my brother-in-law's 50th birthday. (There is some grey in the patterned paper under the numbers.) The base is white with black cardstock on top. I think he'll like it - he's a no frills kind of guy.

Challenge #12

Christmas Trees is the challenge at Bah! Humbug! this week. For my card, I decided to use a round card base and add some patterned paper. The tree was cut out by hand (just a triangle) using white card stock that I stamped using the Stampendous music score rubber stamp. The trunk was tan card stock stamped with a wood grain rubber stamp. The star and sentiment were chipboard stickers (Happy Holidays collection by Fancy Pants). I just added a gem star for a little sparkle. Very simple, but I like it. I hope you do, too. Thanks for looking!

Challenge #11

Over at Bah! Humbug! the challenge this week is to use metallics. I don't have much spare time this week, so my card is rather plain. (Actually, most of my cards are on the plain side. I'm trying to work on dressing them up, though.)

For this card, I have embossed silver metallic paper with Sizzix' Texture Plate, Dove Garland, from Kit #14, and edged it with blue card strips. I used Inkadinkado's clear Peace stamp on textured white cardstock and colored it with metallic pens. Everything was put on a textured white card base and blue grosgrain ribbon was added to the top of the wreath. I am also entering this into the CHNC seasonal silver challenge.

Thanks for looking!

Less is More - Off the Edge & CHNC - golden

This card is for two challenges: Craftyhazelnut's Go for the Gold and Less is More's Off the Page.

I used a white textured card base and stamped some flourishes and a sentiment on the front. I then added gold stickles to the dots. This is very simple and does use some gold (not much, but hopefully enough to meet the criteria for the Go for the Gold challenge). I did want to add more "stuff", but resisted in keeping with the less is more feeling. (Though it does look a bit empty to me.)

Thanks for popping in. I hope you enjoyed taking a look.

Challenge #10

The challenge for this week at Bah! Humbug! is apertures. Again, beautiful DT cards to get inspiration from.
I used the Sizzix movers and shapers die kit #1 for the A2 card base. And, since I wanted to try my hand at coloring a stamped image with watercolor pencils, my daughter suggested I use some of her watercolor paper. (She can be quite helpful.) The stamp I chose was You Cane Light The Way - a rubber stamp from Stampabilites. I ran some more of the same paper through the Big Shot using the same die (just cut it down to size) to make the window frame. Both the window frame and corner pieces on the inside were inked with chalk inks. I added some gems and a clear sticker sentiment to the front. I'm not sure I like the shiny look of the sentiment sticker, though, so I may try to change it.
Thanks so much for taking a look...

Embossing Challenge

I'm back! Still not out of the woods, but at least I can craft again. (See, I promised Max and Ann that I wouldn't overdo it. No Humbug Hounds coming after me! LOL)

I'm entering this card for Challenge #9 at Bah! Humbug! and #10 at Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge.  I used a solid green cardstock for the base. I embossed white card with a snowflake embossing folder (Sizzix Plaid & Snowflakes set of 2 Embossing Folders by BasicGrey), then I added the green printed ribbon around the corners. Lastly, I matted it with some printed paper from my stash and onto the card it went.

Thanks for looking and the well wishes! Hopefully I'll be able to stick with the challenges now.
(If you read this earlier, yes I edited this quite a bit. I was half asleep when I posted! LOL)

Challenge #9

The Bah! Humbug! challenge for this week is embossing. I'm also entering this in Hazel's challenge #10, which is embossing, too! (And it'll be my first entry for CHNC Challenge Blog.)

I started with a red card base and added kraft paper and pattern paper that were both embossed using the Sizzix holly & berries texture plate (from Kit #5). The sentiment was from the Quickutz Christmas embossing folders kit, edged using Fiskars apron lace border punch. I put narrow white satin ribbon under the open areas of the border and added some pearls. The embossed design of the patterned paper and sentiment, as well as edges of the patterned and kraft paper, was inked with dark green ink to bring out the embossing. It was finished off with white satin ribbon and bow.
As usual, a fun challenge with lots of beautiful designs from the DT to use as inspiration.
Thanks for taking a look.
