Bah!Humbug! snowmen, CHNC brights

We are using snowmen at Bah! Humbug! and bright colors and/or sparkle at CHNC this week. I have used a Unity snowman stamp (love the Unity brand, so far) colored with LePlume markers before stamping. (I also colored in the hats after stamping to make them darker.) After cutting out, I added Martha Stewart Crystal Fine glitter then stuck them to a bright card base. I added a row of buttons from my button box and used a clear stamp sentiment from Making Memories' FaLaLa kit. Very simple, but fun! I hope you like it, and thanks for popping by for a look.

Challenge #43

Another week has gone by, and our challenge over at Bah!Humbug! is to use die cuts on our card. I used a nestie to cut out the mat for my image, and used a sizzix die for the corner pieces. The image is from a rubber stamp my husband recently picked out at Michaels when I dragged him there during our regular grocery, etc, "outing". Since he picked it out, I'll probably give him this card at Christmas. This makes it for "someone special", which is the challenge at CHNC. The image was heat embossed using black embossing powder after stamping with Martha Stewart's black ink , and took several tries to get it looking OK. If anyone has tips on how to keep stray embossing powder from staying where it isn't wanted, I would be very interested in hearing them. I finally used a very small paintbrush to try and sweep the excess off the paper. It mostly worked.

Challenge #42

The above card is for the challenge over at Bah!Humbug!, which is asking for a card suitable for a man. CHNC is asking for a scene. This one will fill the bill for both challenges. I was thinking of my dad when choosing colors and patterns, so this will probably be going to him. All papers (including card base and matting) and ribbon slide are from sei's Alpine Frost collection. The stamp is an Inkadinkado rubber stamp, and the ribbon is from my stash. Walnut distress ink was used to stamp the image.

Challenge #41

For this week's challenge at Bah!Humbug!, we are focusing on food. CHNC has us using baubles, or something that hangs. So, again I have combined these two challenges and came up with a very simple card. (I'm quite pressed for time this week, since my daughter had surgery yesterday. I am posting this from her hospital room, while she sleeps - we hope to be going home tomorrow.)

The base card is an aperture card from an old kit that was in my stash - from 2008 (I've covered up the date with the Happy Holidays sentiment).

Gingerbread house, gingerbread man, and trees are from a Michaels 3-d sticker set.

Hanging "baubles" are glittered star brads with the brad part cut off, and hanging from the opening by white heavy thread. When the card is open a little, the stars hang in the cut out area, giving it some movement.

Very simple, but should meet the requirements. I haven't missed any of the Bah! Humbug! entries and I didn't want to miss this one, either, so this card is a quick one. Hope you like it, and thanks for taking a look!

Challenge #40

At Bah!Humbug! this week, we are glittering our card and CHNC has asked for a house.

I have used an Inkakinkado rubber stamp for the image. I stamped onto pure white card stock then cut out using a Nestie. I added stickles for snow on the ground and Martha Stewart snow glitter on the roof and big pine tree. It was then placed on black glitter paper and rhinestones were added in the corners for some extra bling. The sentiment is a rub-on that was added to another Nestie cut-out. ( The glitter doesn't show up very well in the pic, but it really is there.)

Challenge #39

This week's card challenge at Bah!Humbug! is to incorporate the nativity into the design. I don't have any nativity-related stamps or paper, but I did find some stickers at Hobby Lobby. The one I used is from the Rejoice Nativity Foil sticker set by the Paper Studio. The sentiment was cut from a printed vellum sheet and inked with gold. I just added gold foil corner pieces to finish it off. Very simple and easy! I would also like to enter this into CHNC's challenge which for this week is to make a card suitable for a man or boy.

Challenge #38

This is my weekly entry for Bah!Humbug!'s Christmas challenge. We were asked to include reindeer (or Rudolph) in our project.

I have made a pocket card that can be used with the enclosed tag, or it could hold a gift card. The reindeer and red card stock were attached to the blue patterned paper only on the bottom and sides, so that it forms a pocket.

Materials used were: patterned papers from Deja Views' Fair Isle Christmas pack, natural twine, pre-made striped tag, a sentiment stamp "Share the spirit of Christmas", swirly red rub-ons, black and natural satin ribbon, and green bells. Snowflakes were punched out of the same red glittered snowflake paper that is above the reindeer, and added to the tag.

This was a fun card to make, and not too difficult. I hope you like it, and thanks for looking,

Challenge #37

This week on Bah!Humbug! we are to use swirls and flourishes on our card. CHNC has asked for glitter. So, again I have combined both challenges and have come up with this card.

I used My Mind's Eye glittered paper for the background and matted it on gold glitter cardstock. The same gold was used as a mat under the sentiment (rub-on), which was cut out using a Nestie. I added die cut swirls and two colors of satin ribbon to finish it off. I love the glittered papers because the glitter doesn't come off.

Challenge #36

This week's challenge at Bah!Humbug! (http://bah-humbug-christmas.blogspot.com/) is to do some paper weaving. At CHNC, http://craftyhazelnutschristmaschallenge.blogspot.com/ , we are asked to include swirls. The card I have made includes both.

Challenge #35

For Bah!Humbug! this week, we are to make a card that focuses on the sentiment. (Sorry about the missing link. Blogger was being tempermental again.) I have chosen a white gate fold card covered with My Mind's Eye Wonderful Winter patterned paper, and Nesties for the solid center layers. I stamped the Joy sentiment using a clear stamp from the Inkadinkado Warm Holiday Wishes collection and added Martha Stewart gold embossing powder. Green organza ribbon finished off the front.

The same papers as used on the card front were added to the inside, and another Joy sentiment was stamped using brown ink.
