Challenge #34

Here come the girls! is our theme for the week at Bah!Humbug! So, I tried to be as girlie as I could by using softer colors to make a huge poinsettia flower. The flower and leaf petals are just torn from card stock. I then scored down the middle to make the vein, and inked the edges with chalk inks to match the petals. I added white brads to the center, and white grosgrain ribbon stamped with a sentiment underneath the flower. I then put it on a mat of white and green before sticking it to the card base. The inside is finished, also, with the same colors.

I would also like to enter it into CHNC's "build it up" challenge for this week. I have used multiple layers, so I think it will qualify.

Thanks for taking a look...I hope you like it!

Challenge #33

I was out of town the past week, helping my oldest move, so had to make a quick Christmas card this week.
This is for the Bah!Humbug! challenge of the week, which is to do or use something new.
For my card, I used a new stamp and also fussy cut the edge after putting on a border sticker (I've never done that before - took lots more time than anticipated). I added some stickles and gems to the tree, and put some gifts underneath (stickers that had gifts on them, that I cut out). A piece of red grosgrain ribbon was added down the side and a peel off sentiment at the top.
The card base is white, but looks darker in the pic. (It was very late when I finished- will need to retake the pic when it is light out)
Hope you like it, and thanks for looking!

Challenge # 32

We are making a "kiss-mas" card for Bah!Humbug! this week, and a one layer or simple card for CHNC. For this one, I have used a downloaded clipart mistletoe bell (don't remember where it came from, though - I'll try to find out and add it later) and printed it directly onto cream cardstock. I cut it into a 5"x 7" card and scored 1/2" in around the front edges. I then matted a sentiment on green cardstock and stuck it to the card. Some stickles for bling (white to the berries, gold to the bell, and green to dot the "i's") and it was finished. I do hope you like it, and thanks for stopping by to take a look.

White, black and a touch of color

This card is for the CHNC white, black and one other color challenge. I used mostly scraps for this one. The top panel is made using the outer frame from a nestie that was cut out, placed over a vellum piece with an added vellum snowflake border (cut out using a sizzix die). I added some red satin ribbon and gems to the border, stuck on some vellum snowflakes (Martha Stewart punch) with gems in the centers, and added a rub-on glitter sentiment. The panel was then placed on blank white cardstock and attached to a black card. It has a little more dimension than shows up on the pic. I hope you like it, and thanks for taking a look!

Acetate box updated pics

Here are the updated pics of Erin's earlier post. She had wanted to add something else to the box, and received very helpful suggestions. Here's what she did . (I really like the way it turned out.) Her earlier post shows the inside, with stamped acetate.

Challenge #31

This week at Bah!Humbug! we are doing a white on white card. I have used a white shimmer cardstock embossed with Sizzix Textured Impressions embossing folder set - Plaid and Snowflakes. I added a few vellum snowflakes on top of some embossed ones (punched using Martha Steward snowflake punch) and added pearls. The embossed card was matted with a soft dove gray shimmer card and tied with organza ribbon. The pic shows a pinkish color to it, but it is really a shimmer white. I hope you like it, and thanks for taking a look.

Challenge #30 & Daughter's Birthday Card

This week's challenge at Bah!Humbug! is to use lace, and at CHNC we are asked to include some holiday food (and candy is the best kind of food). I did a card that I'm not really fond of, but Erin's birthday is this week (actually, today) so I am short on time. I'll probably take it apart and alter it somehow later.

For the image I used a Stampability stamp, Sweet Music, colored with watercolor pencils. The lace is crocheted and from my stash, along with the wine colored satin ribbon and gem. I cut the image out with a Nestie and stuck it all to a cream and white patterned paper before putting it on a white card base. Thanks for looking. (I've also posted the birthday card I made for Erin - I like that one better - my first gate fold card)
