Challenge #25

We are to make a penguin card over at Bah!Humbug! this week, so I decided to check out some downloadable images. I found this one on Christmas-clipart.com. I printed it twice, using the second to cut out two trees and the hat. I popped them up with foam squares, after inking the edges. On the hat, I glued some scrap felt over the pom pom and hat band for extra texture. I also added stickles to the snowflakes for some sparkle. The printed image was edged with decorative scissors and mounted on red cardstock before adhering it to a 5"x5" square card base.

I hope you like it -it was fun doing the paper piecing and using a computerized image. I am also entering this into CHNC's anything goes challenge.

Below is last week's card with the added bling, and a sentiment wrapped around the outer scalloped edge. I do think it looks more finished now. (Not the best pic, though.) Thanks for the great suggestions!

Mittens and Scarves

This week's challenge at Bah!Humbug! is mittens and scarves. If you haven't been over to their blog, I highly recommend it. The DT examples are super, and the stories are very entertaining! (I look forward to reading them each week.)

For my entry, I've used only mittens, so I'm not really sure if I have satisfied the challenge.

The card is a simple white textured base with a scalloped circular journal page adhered. I used 3 layers of textured paper flowers and tied a pair of glittered mittens (cut out of a chipboard embellishment) to the clear gem brad in the center with some baker's string. I had a peel-off sentiment on the upper right area of the white card base, but it didn't look right to me, so I took it off (very carefully, so as not to ruin the card base). I may go back later and try to add a sentiment that follows the outline of the scalloped journal page. (It looks like it needs something.)

As always, thank you for taking a look, and for your comments. They are appreciated.

Challenge #23

Over at Bah!Humbug! we are to make a card suitable for a teen, and CHNC is asking us to use buttons. I combined both in one card. This was one of the harder challenges for me, as I'm not really sure what teens like these days. So, I decided to go with something I think a younger teen would enjoy - cute penguins. The penguins are dimensional, glittered embellishments from Michaels and the buttons are from the local fabric shop. The rest is from my stash.
I hope you enjoy it, and thank you for taking a look.

Challenge #22

Our challenge at Bah!Humbug! this week is to surprise them. I decided to do a blue and white card to also satisfy CHNC's challenge of using blue. The "surprise" is a small snowman glitter sticker placed in the upper right corner of the inside. So, when you open the card you are greeted by a little smiley snowman hiding in the corner. (A little corney, but it's all I could think of at the moment)
Supplies used were a blank white card, crochet trim with navy grosgrain ribbon woven through (wraps all around the card), glitter snowman and star/snowflake stickers (Hobby Lobby) and a peel-off sentiment.
Thanks for taking a look!
